INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTATIONS
Instructions for Presenters and Posters:
Oral Presenters: Presenters must use PowerPoint
(any version is satisfactory)
• Naming your presentation - Files must be named as "10
ISMH-author surname" if you have more than one presentation,
give them consecutive numbers.
• Presenters can e-mail their presentation to dridnani@gmail.com
with copy to sureshidnani@hotmail.com
. Email your presentation (power point presentation and full
text) Otherwise, please bring your presentation on 3.5' floppy
diskette, memory stick or CD that has been formatted for PC
readability.
• Please bring a back-up copy with you to the conference.
• You will not be permitted to use your own computer!
To avoid problems with the connections of different laptops
and projectors, computer files of all presentations will be
copied onto a single computer before your session.
• Hand your presentation in to the presenter's room at
least one session before your presentation session. When you
arrive at the room where your presentation will occur, your
presentation file will already be loaded on the computer.
• Keynote presentations will be of 30 minutes duration
(this will include a minimum of 2 minutes for questions).
• Oral session presentations will be 20 minutes (which
should include 2 to 5 minutes question time).
• Work-shop presentations are generally 20 minutes, but
some are longer. Check the program to confirm length of your
talk.
• Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of
the session and meet the chairperson of the session.
Generally, there should not be more slides than speaking time
in minutes. For individual slide formats, please follow this
simple rule: maximum of seven lines with six words maximum per
line on any one slide. Avoid presenting large tables or more
than one graph per slide.
For a normal presentation, a font size of 24 is sufficient in
order to be readable from the back of the room. To determine
legibility: With a 17-inch screen, stand about 2 meters away.
If you can see your presentation clearly at 100%, slide and
text, then there shouldn't be a problem in seeing this presentation
in a lecture room. Rather than using bold to make text clearer,
increase the size of your text from 24 point to 28 point. The
contrast between the color of the letters and the background
should be maximized. The use of green and red letters is not
advisable.
Poster presentations: Posters are not to be
larger than 0.9 x 1.5 meters and should be installed on display
boards by the author(s) at your numbered position in the poster
room, before 12.00 noon on 23rd September 2009. Please make
sure that the size of typeface is large enough to be legible
from a distance of 1.5 meters. Posters are to remain posted
until 2.00 pm on 26th September 2009. You will be required to
stand next to your poster on the day allocated, between 2 and
3 pm.
